2026 Annual Meeting & Board of Directors Election

 

Every year, the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association relies on the dedication, leadership, and vision of our community to fulfill our mission: fostering an appreciation of sailing and water recreational safety in youth through skill-building, teamwork, and community engagement. As we approach our 2026 Annual Meeting and Elections, we invite members to participate and lend their talents to the future of SBJSA.

 

Getting Involved: Board Candidates & Nominations We are currently seeking passionate, qualified candidates to join our Board of Directors. Directors serve a two-year term, directing corporate affairs, formulating policies, and actively supporting our youth sailing programs. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, U.S. citizens, and members of the corporation who are not regular full- or part-time employees of SBJSA.

 

• How to Apply: Prospective nominees are encouraged to submit a brief summary or resume highlighting their qualifications, contact information, and ways they envision serving SBJSA.
   

• Submission Channel: Send nominations directly to Secretary EB Gefell.
   

• Nomination Deadline: All nominations must be received by September 30, 2026.
   

The Nominating Committee (EB Gefell and Martha Lightfoot) will review and vet all new candidates prior to submitting the final ballot.

 

Voter Qualification & Membership Requirements Voting in the annual election is a key right of SBJSA membership. Membership is open to anyone 18 or older who supports our mission and meets one of the following criteria for the current fiscal year:

 

• Membership Fee: Remit the $500 annual membership fee prior to September 30, 2026.
   

• Tuition/Sailorship Support: Financially support a camper through tuition and/or a Sailorship during the current fiscal year (waives the annual membership fee).
   

(Note: Active Officers, Directors, and Advisory Council members do not pay annual membership fees.)
