LTS, Learn to Sail

Learn to sail is avilable in three separate boat types. Optimist Dinghy, Laser, and Club 420. For example a new student ( upon completion of 3rd grade) would most likely begin the LTS program in an Optimist Dinghy. Optimist sailors are usually from 8-15 years old and weigh approx 80 - 120 lbs. The weight limit is reccommended for both boat handling and safety.

Learn to sail is designed for the camper that wants to attend camp and proceed at their own pace while they learn the basics of boat handling, points of sail, and the enjoyment of being on the water.

LTS Laser requires that a camper be between 125-160 lbs for a Radial Laser and 160+ lbs for a full rigged laser sailboat.

Each LTS program has a series of milestones (new for 2010) for the camper to reach as they progress through the SBJSA Program.
